Diogenes fest awards 3 films from Iran

The Diogenes Film Festival in Georgia awards 3 films from Iran.

The second edition of the International Short Film Internet Festival “Diogenes 2021” in Georgia has awarded three flicks from Iran.

Directed by Yasser Talebi, the 15-minute ‘I Won’t Remain Alone’ won the jury award.

‘Miss Ronaldo’ directed by Kioumars Mohammad-Chenari received a diploma of honor.

Directed by Seyyed-Morteza Sabz-Qaba, the 12-minute ‘A Trivial Thing’ took the Serenade award home.

‘I Won’t Remain Alone’ follows the story of Sorayya and Seyyed-Jalal, an underprivileged old couple who live in a distant village in the north of Iran. It paints pictures of forgiveness, love, humanity and immortality.

The elderly disabled couple, living in a small village in the north of Iran, faces an unfathomable tragedy when their youngest son falls into a coma after an accident.

Defying the Islamic traditions of burial, overcoming problems of red tape, and turning devastation into hope, the parents agree to donate their son’s organs. Five years after their brave decision, a film crew visits them and records their slow path of reconciliation with death – or rather, their acquaintance with eternal life.

‘Miss Ronaldo’ is a documentary that narrates the dream of a girl named Ayeh Qassem who is a soccer player.

It shows the pains and the hopes of a child. The four-minute documentary was made last year in the Truth Documentary Film Center.

‘A Trivial Thing’ narrates the story of a young man who wishes to become an actor and play on theater stages.

The Diogenes, an online event, hosts films in any digital format.

The 2021 edition of the festival was held on November 30-December 10. The winners were announced on December 15.
